Musical Morning Awakening - Museum Frieder Burda

Time: 9 a.m.
Place: Museum Frieder Burda
Prices: EUR 65,-

A string quartet as a love letter is much more logical than might initially be believed. Can there be anything more intimate than this music genre in which all partners must listen to each other completely? In his Second Quartet, Janáček sings, bewitches and laments his own late and crazy love. The work will be played by Quatuor Voce, who have won competitions in Geneva, Cremona, Vienna, Bordeaux, Graz and London. It’s high time we introduced you to this ensemble!

Gounod: FAUST - Charles Castronovo & Erwin Schrott

Time: 6.00 p.m.
Place: Festspielhaus

A young woman is seduced, betrayed, ostracised, and imprisoned, accused of being a child killer. However, prior to these happenings, she has experienced a love story, the intensity of which can only be encountered in an opera. The role of Marguerite in Gounod’s “Faust” offers singers a range of possibilities to hold nothing back and fully display their true ability.

Wagner-Salon Music and literature with Ulrich Noethen

Time: 8.00 p.m.
Place: Festspielhaus
Prices: from EUR 29,-

How does one approach a phenomenon like Wagner? Why not with a detour, taking the shortest route straight to the heart of this extraordinary man? On that note, we would like to cordially invite you to our Wagner Salon! The wonderfully talented actor Ulrich Noethen will read from texts written by the composer, with musical accompaniment. This will include Wagner’s Wesendonck Lieder as well as works by other Wagnerians – arranged for solo strings and accordion, far removed from overpowering effects and thus allowing pure focus on the musical aspect. Who said this music has to have a narcotic effect? Condensed for chamber music, Wagner’s work can now be completely rediscovered.
