Schmidmühlen
Schmidmühlen, which was first referred to in official documents in 1010, is located in the Bavarian Jura, a pretty area of hillsides, river valleys and woods, meadows and caves, between the Vils and Lauterach rivers, in the area of Amberg-Sulzbach and Regensburg.
Things to do in the area
Visitors will enjoy 70 kilometers (more than 43 miles) of well-signposted hiking trails and cycling paths such as the Vilstal cycle route and the Fünf-Flüsse-Radweg (5-river cycle path). There's also an 18-hole golf course. Anglers will enjoy fishing in the Vils and Lauterach rivers while the adventurous will enjoy can canooing on both rivers. In season, hunting is possible together with local hunters.
