Continue Serving - Active Air Force To Air National Guard

Can you imagine if you could have the Active Duty Air Force listen to what your needs were and then help you meet them. As a prior ADAF member I know it is mission first (fly, fight, win!), but you have been doing our nation's work, so why shouldn't you have a chance at obtaining your goals too. You many now be in the home stretch of your enlistment contract and whether your reason for ending your service is that your dream sheet is being totally ignored because of high demands for your AFSC (in locations where you have no interest in living), too many deployment, a PCS mid-way through every semester of college, deployment tempo too high for your family or maybe you just joined the Air Force to get enough money for you to attend college; the Air National Guard may be what you're looking for to serve and meet your personal goals as well.

My name is MSgt. Nick Perez and I would like to offer you a chance at continued getting your military benefits after you leave the Active Duty Air Force. I am the ANG In-Service-Recruiter stationed at Ramstein AB, Germany and I also am charged with providing support to all NATO bases in the surrounding countries.

What is the Air National Guard? The Air National Guard (ANG) is a reserve component of the United States Air Force.  By serving one weekend each month and two weeks every year (38 days a year), you are part of the world's greatest Air Force; your "HOMETOWN AIR FORCE."  The rest of the time you're free to work a regular job, go to school full-time or do whatever you'd like.

After separating from ADAF most first term Airman will be assigned to the Inactive Ready Reserve (IRR) for 2 years; why not attend a few drills and collect a paycheck? At the end of your contract you decide your own destiny! Not sure you want to jump from one contract to another? The Air National Guard has a "Try 1" contract that allows you to test drive the Air National Guard for a year. You would commit to a 1 year contract and serve only 12 weekends.

ANG STATE AND FEDERAL MISSIONS:  The ANG's state & federal mission is to provide trained, well-equipped men and women who can augment the active duty force during national emergencies or war, and provide assistance during natural disasters and civil disturbances.  STATE MISSIONS are funded by individual states and include disaster relief in times of earthquakes, hurricanes, floods, forest fires, search and rescue, protection of vital public services and support to civil defense.  FEDERAL MISSIONS require  the ANG to provide operational ready combat units, combat support units and qualified personnel for active duty in the Air Force and fulfill war and contingency commitments.  As a member of the ANG, the below vital benefits can be yours:

-  EXTRA INCOME: By enlisting in the ANG, you can augment your existing income with an extra paycheck. The pay you earn by serving 2 days each month is equivalent to 4 active duty days.  As you already know, rank and time in service determine individual pay rates.

-  COLLEGE TUITION ASSISTANCE: Many states offer FREE tuition.  The ANG also offers college tuition assistance through the Montgomery G.I. Bill. The cost of higher education is steep, but the ANG brings it down to earth.

-  VALUABLE TRAINING: Crosstrain!! The ANG offers additional free training in your field or a completely NEW career; plus, the ANG guarantees training in your field of choice.

-  MILITARY RETIREMENT: For your part-time service today, you can earn a military retirement tomorrow.  All prior military service count towards retirement. To be eligible for retirement, you must complete 20 years of total military service.  No civilian employer can match it!

-  INSURANCE: Guard members may elect the $400,000 "Serviceman's Group Life Insurance" coverage for $26.00 per month.  (Optional election)

-  MEDICAL COVERAGE: Members are eligible to apply for medical coverage through Tri-care Reserve Select.  More information can be found at www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/trs  https://www.hnfs.net/training/guard_reserve/index.html  (this is a great site that explains TRS)

-  DENTAL PLAN: For participating Guardsmen only, diagnostic, preventative and emergency dental coverage through United Concordia.  More information can be found at www.ucci.com

-  ADDITIONAL BENEFITS: Unlike other military branches, the ANG offers a host of federal and state benefits.  Unit members and families are eligible for such federal benefits as BX and Commissary privileges. State benefits vary but often include FREE college tuition, state tax deferment, reduced or no cost driving, fishing and hunting licenses.

-  PROMOTIONS: Promotions in the Air Guard mean responsibility, authority, prestige and most of all money in your check.  Meet the minimum time-in-grade, time-in-service, PME and be  recommended by your supervisor and you're on your way up; no testing for promotions.

-  SPACE "A" TRAVEL: Air Guard members travel anywhere in the US, Puerto Rico and Guam, anytime space is available on military aircraft, free.
